A fun and interactive way to learn skills for life

For Kids Co. Cooking Club

Encouraging children to cook is not only a fun and interactive way to embed life skills; it also benefits children
by providing the building blocks for healthy eating into adulthood. Cooking together provides opportunities for
children to interact with each other and master a variety of new skills.

Aims

To provide children with the ‘know how’, whilst introducing them to a wide range of ingredients from different parts of the World, providing insight to other cultures.

Benefits

  • Teaching children to cook, raises awareness of the potential hazards in the kitchen and provide them with the knowledge of how to stay safe

  • Numeracy is embedded in weighing & measuring – a necessary life skill

  • Literacy is embedded in following a recipe providing children with a meaningful reading comprehension exercise (younger children will be supported with this)

  • Cooking helps to develop a child’s planning and time management skills

  • Helps to nurture a child’s creativity about presentation.
